Many crashes occur because of negligence. Others happen because of equipment failure. Regardless of what causes them, we must be alert to the issues that lead to these crashes whenever they happen so we can learn from them.
The latest of these crashes to occur in Washington reportedly took place near Snohomish.
A woman from Mountlake Terrance died while a Seattle man was seriously injured.
The 78-year-old woman was driving east on Highway 2 near the Highway 9 interchange when she allowed her Kia Rio ti crash into a Suzuki Aerio sedan that was heading west. The driver behind the wheel of the Suzuki was a 31-year-old from Seattle.
A 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan that was also traveling west was also involved in the crash since it crashed into the Suzuki as a result.
The 78-year-old woman died at the scene while the man was rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. The woman and a girl occupying the third vehicle were not injured.
After the crash, the road was closed for several hours.
As of yet, officials have not reported on the causes that led to this tragic collision. Nevertheless, drivers may still draw some important lessons from it.
Many similar crashes occur because drivers are drowsy or distracted. As they do not notice what is happening with the road, they may end up allowing their vehicle to veer off the roadway and crash into an oncoming car. These crashes are often fatal, as head-on collisions can be deadly due to the impact and the speed.
Drivers must stay alert to these crashes and remember that focus on the road and rest are both essential. Motorists who aren’t taking important steps like only sitting behind a wheel if they are rested or putting their phone away the minute they get into their cars will be more likely to be involved in crashes.
