Certain Audi vehicles could expose US drivers to accident risks over a potential loss of steering, a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states.
According to regulators, the 2019 Q8 and 2017 through 2019 Q7 vehicles come with bolts that connect the steering shaft to the steering gear that may become loose. If that happens while the vehicle is in use, the driver will lose control over the steering. This can increase the risk of an accident.
NHTSA reported that Audi promptly recalled the vehicles after discovering the issue and that car owners will be contacted after May 15, 2020.
Regulators encourage consumers who are concerned about their safety and the safety of their loved ones to contact Audi’s customer service at 1-800-253-2834.
Audi Car Owners: Recall Poses Accident Risks
Despite not having reported any SUV crashes associated with the recalled vehicles, the company warns that the potential risks shouldn’t be ignored.
