Nearly One Million Cars Recalled By Fiat Chrysler After Several Injury Reports

fiat recall accident crash cars personal injury

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling nearly one million cars in the United States over steering wheel badges that might fly off when airbags are deployed. Because these items can turn into projectiles, the firm stated, occupants can sustain serious injuries in the event of an accident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 925,239 vehicles are being recalled.

The firm added that at least 14 reports of injuries registered prior to the recall might be tied to the issue.

Impacted models include the 2008 through 2010 Chrysler Town & Country, the 2008 through 2010 Dodge Caravan, and the 2007 through 2011 Dodge Nitro. In order to fix the issue, car owners are being asked to bring their vehicle to a dealer where a new air bag cover will be installed for free. This fix should secure all potentially flying parts.

The firm should start contacting impacted vehicle owners to alert them about the recall on August 26th.

If you own one of the recalled vehicles, consider scheduling a visit to the dealership as soon as the firm contacts you to alert of the recall.

Unlike Takata’s, FCA Recall Isn’t Associated With Deadly Auto Accident Reports

Unlike previous recalls involving air bag-related parts that were known to turn into projectiles such as Takata air bag inflators, this recall has not been associated with any deadly accident injuries. In any case, injuries have been reportedly associated with this recall and drivers should keep that in mind if they learn their vehicles were impacted.

Whenever a vehicle you own is listed under a recall issued due to a safety issue, do not ignore the risks. Unfortunately, many drivers ignore recalls or take a long time to visit a dealer to have their vehicles repaired. This negligent behavior puts lives in danger.

If you or a loved one owns one of the recalled vehicles, do not hesitate to contact FCA directly to learn more about this recall, especially if you have any particular concerns.
